Range Improvements

Range Communications

Solar panels for the Range Communications system are currently located on the roof of the Short Range cover.  More new cabling will be installed and connected to the system once we can safely work on the roof and the solar panels will be moved more to the north end of the roof.  Lead Acid batteries will also be replacing the batteries we currently have for this project.  Hopefully, this will allow full use of the WiFi systems year round.

_____

Range Communications WiFi system will continue to undergo testing.  You will be kept informed when the system is turned on, hopefully full time.

After the system passes our testing for full time operation, cloud based range cameras will be installed on the antenna pole and under the short range cover.  Additional cameras will be installed as the system expands.

Further expansion plans include a WiFi nodes (WiFi connectivity and Cameras) to cover the most of the range facility areas including:  Front Gate; Long Range Stat House and 600 yard shooting line; Long Range pits; Long Range berm area (the current IDPA and Steel Challenge shooting area); Short Range Competition lanes when they are built/installed.

Range Expansion Project

USFS Pike National Forest Shooting plan has been signed.  BCGC has received a verbal positive notification of approval for our 13 Bay Pistol Range project. The USFS is now looking at moving the Colorado Trail farther away from proposed 13 Bay Pistol Range project.  Your Board of Directors are currently discussing the planning for the implementation of the project

Shot Marker System

The 10 lanes of electronic shot markers have been installed and have now been used in High Power competitions.  This is huge milestone for the club.  Sam Morris led the initial purchase of the system for the club and was a huge supporter of electronic target systems.

The pucks are now installed on Shot-Marker reserved frames in the target shed - they are the ones with colored puck holders in each corner of the target frame.

FOR NOW: PLEASE do not use these frames for general target shooting outside of competitions.  A training program will be available soon for all members who want to use the system for their personal practice on the Jim Starr Long Range.  More info will follow on the training program.

Tom Crist is the lead on the Shotmarker system.  For details reach out to Tom.

BCGC Workday Project

Our last Work-Day was a total success and we could not have completed the many projects without our members who volunteered - THANK YOU!

With the verbal approval and hopefully a signed "USFS Improvement Request Form" we will start having many Work-Day opportunities.  We are hoping to get many volunteers on all of the future Work-Days.

If you'd like to hear more about what we will be working on, reach out to Gary Zilik (RangeOfficer@bcgc.us) or Ryan Combs (president@bcgc.us
